Best GPU for Stable Diffusion in India
Find the best GPU for running Stable Diffusion and image generation models in India. VRAM requirements, batch generation speed, and GPU recommendations.
VRAM Requirements for Stable Diffusion / Image Generation (SDXL, Flux, Midjourney-style)
Minimum VRAM
8 GB
Recommended VRAM
24 GB
Recommended GPUs
Key Considerations
- SDXL requires approximately 6.5 GB VRAM for a single image at 1024x1024. Higher resolutions, ControlNet, and batch generation increase VRAM needs. 24 GB is comfortable for production use.
- FP16 compute throughput determines image generation speed. The L40S generates images 2-3x faster than an RTX 4090 in batch processing due to its higher FP16 throughput and larger VRAM for batching.
- For fine-tuning Stable Diffusion models (LoRA, DreamBooth), 24 GB VRAM is the minimum. Full fine-tuning of SDXL requires 40+ GB.
- For production image generation APIs serving hundreds of concurrent users, deploy multiple L40S GPUs behind a load balancer. Each L40S can serve approximately 5-15 images per second depending on resolution and steps.
- Newer models like Flux and SD3 are more VRAM-hungry. Plan for 16-24 GB minimum for these next-generation image generation architectures.
What NOT to buy
GPUs with less than 8 GB VRAM cannot run SDXL effectively. Avoid older Tesla-series GPUs (V100, T4) as they lack the FP16 performance and VRAM needed for modern diffusion models. For production serving, avoid consumer GPUs due to EULA restrictions.
